T-Shirt Quilts

Making lasting memories...

One Shirt at a time!

Turn your beloved t-shirts into a lasting keepsake with my custom quilt services. A t-shirt quilt, often called a memory quilt, is more than just a blanket; it’s a beautiful way to preserve the stories and significance of the past. From jerseys and concert tees to shirts commemorating special events, I can transform your collection of cherished garments into a cozy, unique tapestry of memories that you can use and enjoy every day.

T-Shirt Quilt Styles/Layouts

Choosing the right layout is the most important step in turning your memories into a masterpiece. Every quilt I make is “all-inclusive,” meaning my price covers shirt preparation (stabilizing), professional assembly, high-quality batting/backing, longarm quilting, and finished binding.

Economy Style (The Clean Look)

Simple, modern, and space-saving.

  • What it is: Shirts are cut into uniform squares and sewn directly to each other without fabric between them.

  • Best for: When you have a lot of shirts and want to keep the quilt size manageable or the price point low.

  • Economy Layout Price: $18 per shirt

Traditional Style (The Classic)

Timeless and organized.

  • What it is: Each shirt is separated by "sashing" (strips of high-quality cotton fabric). This gives each shirt its own "frame" and makes the quilt significantly larger than an Economy style.

  • Best for: A classic quilt look that highlights each individual shirt design.

  • Traditional Layout Price: $20 per shirt

Framed Style (The Refined Look)

Architectural and sophisticated.

  • What it is: Similar to the Traditional style, but with "cornerstones" (contrasting fabric squares) at every intersection where the sashing meets. It requires high precision to align every corner perfectly.

  • Best for: A more formal or "designer" look for your bedroom or living room.

  • Framed Layout Price: $25 per shirt

TShirt Quilt Diamond Star

Diamond Star Style
(
The Premium Star)

Artisan, intricate, and unique.

  • What it is: This layout features shirts set into a stunning star-burst pattern. Instead of simple strips, each shirt is surrounded by hand-pieced "star points" (triangles). This layout requires three times the amount of cutting and sewing compared to a standard quilt.

  • Best for: A true statement piece or a special milestone gift (Graduation, Retirement, Memorial).

  • Diamond Star Layout Price: $30 per shirt

Frequently Asked Questions

I understand that you may have some questions, others do too!

Here are some questions I get pretty often.

Shirt Prep: I apply a lightweight, permanent stabilizer to every shirt so your quilt stays flat and doesn’t stretch or sag over time.

Design: I layout your shirts to ensure colors and designs are balanced across the quilt.

Materials: I use only 100% “quilter’s grade” cotton for the sashing and backing, along with premium batting for the perfect weight.

Professional Finish: Your quilt is finished on a professional longarm machine and bound with a double-fold edge for maximum durability.

Items I cannot use: Cheerleading uniforms, fronts of button-down baseball jerseys and dance costumes of any kind. Please keep in mind that most youth t-shirts will incur extra charges for piecing to meet the standard block size of 12-inches.

If more than one graphic is combined to make a block or shirts need to be stitched (ie., button up jerseys, dress shirts, v necks, or to build a block up to size) a minimum of $8.50 fee will be charged per block. I can only accept a MAXIMUM OF 5 SHIRTS per quilt that need to be pieced.

I try hard to keep my turnaround time between 2 and 3 weeks depending on my current workload.

While this may seem like a good way to lessen the bulk and weight of shipping, it actually might cost you more in the long run. I need a fairly good size of the shirt to work with. If you cut the shirt down and it isn’t completely square or is cut too small, I will not be able to use it without modifications (+$) to the shirt. So the money you thought you were saving on shipping charges, might actually be lower than the price you end up paying for me to correct your cuts.

Absolutely! Just snap a picture of how you want the quilt laid out. You can email your picture to me or you can print it out and send it along with your shirts. I am a visual person and there is nothing like a picture to make my job easier.

After you have decided on your shirts, place all of them in one large plastic bag before shipping. This ensures the shirts are kept clean and free of hitchhikers during the shipping process. It also ensures that if your box is damaged, all the shirts will stay together.

Pack the shirts in the box as tight as possible without overstuffing the box. Rolling the shirts, or tightly folding them, makes a huge difference on how small a box you can use.

It's a Numbers Game!

The best part about having me make you a t-shirt quilt is that it’s a great way to use all those shirts from places you’ve visited, events you’ve attended and any other occasion where you’ve purchased a t-shirt. Or you can just use shirts that are just sitting in your closet collecting dust and have us turn them into something fantastic. Plus, it’s a great way to keep memories alive.

But here is where it people get stuck. The number 1 question people ask me, is how many will I need? I make quilts from 12 shirts all the way to 42 shirts.

Note: I use the term GRAPHICS a lot! A graphic is whatever you want to be in the block of the quilt. If you don’t have 12 shirts, we can use both sides of one shirt to create a 2 blocks for the quilt. So in each scenario I will identify the minimum and maximums based on graphics and shirts.
